How to adapt your CV to a Belgian job
1/10/2026
Sending the same CV everywhere rarely works. Small changes per vacancy make a big difference.
Read the job ad closely
List the must-have requirements: diplomas, certifications, languages, tools, years of experience.
Reorder, don't invent
Move the most relevant experience and skills to the top. Use the same words as the ad when they truthfully describe what you did.
Write in the ad's language
If the vacancy is in Dutch, answer in Dutch; if it is in French, answer in French — unless the ad says otherwise.
Show what's missing
If you lack a requirement, do not hide it with vague wording. Address it in your cover letter if it matters.
